HISTORY

The Jaguar XJR-5 LM n.44 is a prototype that competed at the Le Mans 24 Hours of 1985. After the last victory of 1957 with the Jaguar D-Type, the Coventry manufacturer entrusted a project for a new return to Le Mans, to the Group 44 Racing which was based in Virginia.

The designer Lee Dykstra was commissioned to build the new prototype, starting from the powerful English V12 and creating a chassis that exploits the aerodynamic principles of the underbody.

Claude Ballot-Lena, Bob Tullius and Chip Robinson at the wheel of the Jaguar XJR-5 LM n.44 arrived thirteenth at the 24 Hours of Le Mans 1985. Despite the modifications to lighten the car, the XJR-5 proved to be very far from the C-class deployed for the race. The trio consoled themselves with the victory in the IMSA GTP class, with a gap of fifty laps from the Porsche 956B n.7 of Ludwig, Barilla and Winter deployed by the Joest Racing team winners of the race.

Despite the victory in the IMSA GTP class, the British manufacturer, determined to win Le Mans, entrusted the official support to Tom Walkinshaw Racing by removing it from the Group 44 Racing

The Porsche 935 K3/79 n.71 is a car that participated in the Le Mans 24 Hours in 1980. To promote the Apple brand, Steve Jobs agreed with the Dick Barbour Racing team to sponsor their Porsche 935 in the 1980 season.

Bobby Rahal, Bob Garretson and Allan Moffat at the wheel of the Porsche 935 K3/79 n.71 took part in the Le Mans 24 Hours in 1980. The trio was forced to retire after eleven hours of the race due to the engine failure. The race was won by the Rondeau M379B n.16 by Jean Rondeau and Jean-Pierre Jabouille.
During the season, the Apple-sponsored Dick Barbour Racing team car took third place at the Road America 500 with Rahal and Garretson.

The Chrysler Viper GTS-R n.51 is a car that took part in the 1999 Le Mans 24 Hours. With the 1998 victory in the GTS class, the Oreca and Chrysler teams presented themselves in 1999 as the favorites to win. The car now at the peak of its success, showed up with eight cars lined up.

Olivier Beretta, Karl Wendlinger, Dominique Dupuy at the wheel of the Chrysler Viper GTS-R n.51 won the GTS class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans 1999. The Pescarolo – Judd C60-H n.17 is a prototype that participated in the 24 Hours of Le Mans dl 2006. After the second place obtained in 2005 the French team still deployed the prototypes of the Courage Competition modified for the LMP1 category by the engineer Andre De Cortanze, which fitted the lighter Judd engine of 2005.

The Lancia LC2 – Ferrari n.4 is a prototype that participated in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1984. After the experience with the LC1 the Italian manufacturer directed by Cesare Fiorio, he built a car for the Group C category. The LC2 had the closed cockpit was equipped with a 3000 cc Ferrari engine.

The Ferrari 330 P4 n.21 is a car that participated in the 1967 24 Hours of Le Mans. After the scorching defeats suffered in 1966 by the Ford in the Sport Prototype Championship, the Maranello team replaced the Ferrari P3 with the new model P4. Designed by Piero Drogo, the car was much more powerful and underwent some changes during the season.

The Porsche 962C n.11 is a prototype that competed at the Le Mans 24 Hours in 1987. The official team after the 1986 victory with the new Porsche 962C model decided to sell the model even to private individuals. Kremer Racing modified the Porsche 962, fitting a new Thompson aluminum honeycomb structure, famous for its stiffness and lightness compared to that used by the manufacturer which was made of aluminum sheet. The main objective was to win the Le Mans 24 Hours.

George Fouché, Franz Konrad and Wayne Taylor at the wheel of the Porsche 962C n.11 participated in the 24 Hours of Le Mans 1987. The three drivers with the sponsored car Leyton House, finished the race in fourth place, with a gap of twenty-eight laps from Porsche 962C n.17 official of Stuck, Holbert and Bell winners of the race.
