HISTORY

The Nissan R390 GT1 n.23 is a car that competed in the 1997 Le Mans 24 Hours. With the entry of new manufacturers such as McLaren and Porsche, the GT category had a big technical evolution. The Nissan in collaboration with Tom Walkinshaw Racing, put on the track a car that was based on the use of the Nissan R90 engine of the group C.

Kazuyoshi Hoshino, Erik Comas and Masahiko Kageyama with the Nissan R390 GT1 n.23 arrived twelfths to the 24 hours of Le Mans 1997, far from the winner TWR-Porsche.
Despite the excellent performance in the single lap, in the race the three R390 deployed had continuous technical problems due to overheating of the gearbox. The only one to cross the finish line was the n.23, detached from the winner of sixty-seven laps.

The Porsche 917 L n.3 is a prototype that came in second to the 24 Hours of Le Mans 1970. The Stuttgart manufacturer presented the new 917 in 1970 in various versions, the main one was the long-tails, designed to take advantage of the long straight of the Hunaudieres but with a lot of instability in the slow corners. At Le Mans they presented a car painted in purple with random green psychedelic signs with white edges.

Gerard Larraousse and Willi Kauhsen with the Porsche 917 L n.3 came second at the 24 Hours of Le Mans 1970. Twelve tenths on the grid managed to climb in third position after seven hours. At the twentieth hour, they were second and held this position behind the Porsche 917 K n.23 drivers Richard Attwood and Hans Herrmann who won the race with five laps of advantage.

The Porsche 911 RSR n.92 is the winning car of the GTE PRO class in the 24 Hours of Le Mans of 2018. After the withdrawal in the LMP1 category, the German team devoted itself strongly to the GTE categories. To celebrate the seventy years of life, for the French race two cars were lined with liveries reminiscent of the Porsche, the n.92 recalled the 1971 Porsche 917/20 nicknamed Pink Pig that was all pink and specified the parts of the pig.

Michael Christensen, Kevin Estre and Laufens Vanthoor won the Porsche 911 RSR n.92 in the GTE PRO class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2018, for the trio was the first success.
In the race the cars of the Stuttgart builder dominated the race, the duel was between the winning Porsche and the 911 n.91 driven by Bruni, Makowiecki and Lietz, the latter came second at the end of the race with a turn away from the sister car.

The Porsche 956B n.8 is a prototype arrived third at the 24 hours of Le Mans in 1986. The Ferrari 458 Italia n.51 is the winning car of the GTE PRO class in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2014. After the victory of the world title GTE PRO of 2013, the AF Corse team tried to repeat itself and trying to win back Le Mans as in 2012.

The Nissan GT-R LM Nismo n.22 is a prototype that participated in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2015. In 2014 the Japanese manufacturer announces its return to the world endurance in the LMP1 category with a completely different project from the other manufacturers. The car designed by Ben Bowlby had engine and traction on the front, but during the tests presented many problems that forced the team to give up the first two races of the season at Silverstone and Spa.

Tincknell, Krumm and Buncombe participated with the Nissan GT-R LM Nismo n.22 at the 24 hours of Le Mans in 2015, even if they crossed the finish line they did not manage to classify themselves due to the insufficient distance. For the Japanese it was a race full of problems with the withdrawal of the other two cars taken in the race, the n.21 retired for suspension problems while the n.23 for transmission problems. The disappointing performances led to the decision by Nissan to cancel the project in the LMP1 category.

The Porsche 917/20 n.23 is a car that participated in the 24 Hours of Le Mans 1971. The prototype is an experimental version that extremeized the aerodynamics trying to achieve a middle ground between the Porsche 917 K, “Kurz” to short queue of that year and the 917LH “Langheck” long tail. Aerodynamically more stocky and less linear than the other 917, it was painted pink, and on the bodywork the cuts of the meat were drawn, with this livery, and to the less graceful forms, it was nicknamed “Pink Pig”.

Joest and Kauhsen at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1971 with the Porsche 917/20 n.23, proved to be very quick in the pre-qualifying closing with the best time in the race he consistently held the lead positions. Unfortunately, halfway through the race, while trying to recover on the leading group, Joest had an accident and retired from the race. Today it is one of the main attractions of the official museum of the Stuttgart manufacturer.
