BRAWN – MERCEDES BENZ BGP001 n.22
The Brawn – Mercedes-Benz BGP001 is the only model of the stable founded by Ross Brawn, participated in the Formula 1 World Championship in 2009. The car derived from the base of the project abandoned by Honda, which left everything to Brawn. Zander and Bigois developed an aerodynamic solution that displaced the opponents, the two created a sort of ground effect with the rear diffuser, which was contested by some teams but allowed by the FIA. Jenson Button with the Brawn – Mercedes-Benz BGP001 n.22 won the 2009 World Championship.
For the British rider he was the only world title in his career, during the season he won six Grand Prix: Australia, Malaysia, Bahrain, Spain, Monaco and Turkey. The Brawn also won the constructors title thanks to the points of team-mate Rubens Barrichello who with two wins in the GP Europe and GP Italy. Thanks to the intuition of the speaker, the Brawn and Button managed to take an advantage in the first part of the season, and manage the advantage in the second part, controlling the assault of Sebastian Vettel with Red Bull.
