Despite the short time since the announcement in November 1922, the first 24 hours of Le Mans started on May 26, 1923.

Lagache and Leonard won with the Chenard & Walcker Sport n.9 the 24 hours of Le Mans 1923, for the French manufacturer was the first and only success.
Most of the members were transalpine cars, while the only Bentley present was the fastest, but the ground made muddy by the rain at the beginning of the race and the sketches of stones thrown by the wheels, caused headlights and holes in the tanks, the English team suffered both problems but despite this ended the race in fourth place.
