HISTORY

The Chrysler Viper GTS-R is a car that took part in the 1999 Le Mans 24 Hours. With the 1998 victory in the GTS class, the Oreca and Chrysler teams presented themselves in 1999 as the favorites to win. The car now at the peak of its success, showed up with eight cars lined up. David Donohue, Jean-Philippe Belloc and Soheil Ayari at the wheel of the Chrysler Viper GTS-R n.53 did not finish at the 24 Hours of Le Mans 1999 a due to a broken engine after coverage three hundred and four laps.

The race was won by Pierluigi Martini, Yannik Dalmas, Joachim Winkelhock with the BMW V12 LMR n.15, second Ukyo Katayama, Toshio Suzuki, Kelichi Tsuchiya with the Toyota GT-One n.3 while third Emanuele Pirro, Frank Biella, Didier Theys with the Audi R8R n.8.
