The Ferrari 250 LM is the winning car of the 24 Hours of Le Mans of 1965. The Italian manufacturer after five consecutive wins deployed the new Ferrari 330 P2 to face the decisive power of the Ford GT40 with a 7 liter engine. The American NART team sided with a Ferrari 250 LM in the prototype category.

Gregory, Rindt and Hugus won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1965 with the Ferrari 250 LM n.21, in second place in five laps the Ferrari 250 LM n.26 of Team Dumay with the guide Dumay and Gosselin, while in third place the Ferrari 275 GTB n.24 of Mairesse and Beurlys. It was discovered that Hugus also contributed to the victory, only when the same forty years later he admitted he had driven during the night. Gregory who had difficulty seeing in the dark because of the strong haze, he returned to the pits to leave the car to Rindt, but the Austrian pilot was not found and not to waste too much time Hugus got into the car unaware of the commissioners, in order not to incur the disqualification the team hid the incident and only in 2006 the American pilot confessed.
