HISTORY

The Lotus – Honda 99T is a car that participated in the Formula 1 World Championship in 1987. At the end of 1986 Lotus announces the collaboration with the Honda engines abandoning the French of Renault. The 99T was designed by Gerard Decarauge, the car stood out for the use of active suspension that allowed to avoid both the rolling and pitching, particularly the new yellow livery with the sponsor Camel and the farewell to the sponsor John Player Special .

Ayrton Senna with the Lotus – Honda 99T n.12 arrived third in the Formula 1 World Championship of 1987, for the Lotus was the last podium in a world championship. The season was very balanced and Senna with two wins in the Grand Prix of Monaco and United States could compete for the victory of the title against more experienced drivers such as: Alain Prost on McLaren, Nigel Mansell and Nelson Piquet on Williams FW11B, the latter conquered won the title of world champion. The Brazilian driver announced the transition to McLaren during the season.
