HISTORY

The Porsche 956 is the winning car of the 24 Hours Le Mans of 1983. After the victory with the Porsche 956 in 1982, the official team began selling the 956 to the private teams giving them the chance to win races like the official team.

The 956 sale to individuals led to a domination of the Stuttgart manufacturer occupying ten positions on the first eleven. The race was won by Porsche 956 n.3 with Vern Schuppan, Al Holbert and Hurley Haywood, while in third position the Porsche 956 n.21 with Mario Andretti, Michael Andretti, Philippe Alliot.
