PORSCHE 956 n.26

HISTORY

The Porsche 956 n.26 is a prototype that participated in the 24 hours of Le Mans in 1984. In 1984 the official team of Stuttgart boycotted the participation in the 24 Hours of Le Mans due to the new regulation published by the Automobile Club of the West, which foresaw changes on fuel consumption. This allowed private teams to win the French classic. The car was entered by the American Team Preston Henn Racing. The livery was black with sponsor T-Bird Swap Shop and fitted Dunlop tires.

Jean Rondeau and John Paul jr at the wheel of the Porsche 956 n.26 took part in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1984 and they finished second at the finish line. The American team, even starting from the twenty-fifth position, managed to cut the second place with a gap of two laps from the Porsche 956B n.7 of Team Joest Racing with driving Henry Pescarolo and Klaus Ludwig
