HISTORY

The Toyota 88C is a prototype that competed at the Le Mans 24 Hours in 1988. Designed by the Dome the new model of the Japanese manufacturer, it replaced the Toyota 87C of the previous year. While maintaining the same engine, the 88C had a new aerodynamic shape. Geoff Lees, Karoru Hoshino and Masanori Sekiya at the wheel of the Toyota 88C n.36 arrived twelfth in the 24 hours of Le Mans 1988, very far from the winner. The winner the race was Jaguar XJR-9 n.2 with Jan Lammers, Andy Wallace and Johnny Dumfries, in second place the Porsche 962C n.17 with Derek Bell, Hans-Joachim Stuck and Klaus Ludwig, while in third position the Porsche 962C n.8 with Frank Jelinski, Stanley Dickens, John Winter.
