HISTORY

The Chevrolet Corvette C1 is a car that participated at the 24 Hours of Le Mans 1960. The car was designed by General Motors and edited to Team Cunningham and Cunningham had the full but unofficial support of GM’s Zora Arkus-Duntov, who is considered the father of the Corvette.

The American Briggs S. Cunningham team with Dick Thompson and Fred Windridge at the wheel of the Chevrolet Corvette C1 n.2 did not finish at the 24 Hours Le Mans 1960 due to fire after two hundred seven laps.

The race was won by Olivier Gendebien and Paul Frere at the wheel of the Ferrari 250 TR59/60 n.11, in second place the Ferrari 250 TR59 n.17 with Ricardo Rodriguez and Andre Pilette with a gap of four laps, while in third position the Aston Martin DBR1/300 n.7 with Jim Clark and Roy Salvadori with a gap of eight laps.
