HISTORY

The Howmet TX – Turbine is a car that participated at the 24 Hours of Le Mans of 1968. The car was designed by Ray Heppenstall and Bob McKee.
The American Howmet Corporation team with Dick Thompson and Ray Heppenstall at the wheel of the Howmet TX – Turbine n.22 did not finish at the 24 Hours of Le Mans of 1968 due to accident after eighty-four laps. The race was won by Pedro Rodriguez and Lucien Bianchi at the wheel of the Ford GT40 n.9 of the Team John Wyer Automotive Engineering, in second place the Porsche 907 LH n.66 with Rico Steineman and Dieter Spoerry while in third place Porsche 908 n.33 of Rolf Stommelen and Jochen Neerpasch of the official team.
