HISTORY

The Mirage M8 – Renault is a car that participated at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1977. The car was designed expressly for the French race by the team of John Wyer supported by the oil sponsor Gulf, the English team manager had announced the withdrawal.

The American Grand Touring Cars Inc / Mirage Renault team with Sam Posey and Michel Leclere at the wheel of the Mirage M8 – Renault n.11 did not finish at the 24 Hours of Le Mans 1977 due to broken engine after fifty-eight laps.

The winner the race was the Porsche 936-77 with Jurgen Barth, Hurley Haywood and Jacky Ickx. In second place with a gap of eleven laps came the Mirage GR8 n.10 of Schuppan and Jarier, while in third place the Porsche 935 n.40 of Ballot-Lena and Gregg at twenty seven laps.
