ALFA ROMEO 158
The Alfa Romeo 158 is a car that competed in car racing from 1938 to 1950. His last year of racing was the first Formula 1 World Championship. Born in the Scuderia Ferrari workshops, at the time Alfa Romeo’s experimental department, the car was designed by Gioacchino Colombo and the engineer Alberto Massimino.
Since 1949, the car was modified to comply with the new Formula A regulations, followed by Formula 1, which equated 1.5 supercharged and 4.5 liter aspirated cars.
Giuseppe Farina won the first Formula 1 Grand Prix at Silverstone on 13 May 1950 with the Alfa Romeo 158 and the first Formula 1 World Championship in 1950. The Italian driver won three races: GP England, GP Switzerland and GP Italia. Despite the same victories of Farina: GP Monaco, GP Belgium, GP France, teammate Juan Manuel Fangio came second in the world for only three points difference.
In the last GP of the season in Italy won by Farina, the Alfa Romeo took the new Alfa Romeo 159 model on track, setting the stage for the victory of the 1951 World Championship.
