HISTORY

The Audi R18 e-tron quattro is the prototype with which the German manufacturer participated in the 2016 Endurance World Championship. Of the R18 this is the sixth version, after the defeat of the 24 hours of Le Mans and the WEC in 2015, the Audi revolutionizes the car in a clear way, both aerodynamically with cutting-edge solutions, but above all with the hybrid engine switching to lithium-ion batteries and climbing in the 6 megajoules class from the previous 4.

The German Audi Sport Team Joest with Lucas Di Grassi, Loic Duval and Oliver Jarvis at the wheel of the Audi R18 e-tron quattro n.8 finished third at the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2016. The race won by Porsche 919 Hybrid n.2 with Romain Dumas, Neel Jani and Marc Lieb, while in second place the Toyota TS050 Hybrid n.6 with Stephane Sarrazin, Mike Conway and Kamui Kobayashi. In the season they won two championship races: the 6 hours of Spa-Francorchamps and the 6 hours of Bahrain.
