HISTORY

The Delahaye 135 CS is a car that participated at the 24 Hours of Le Mans of 1938. In 1935 the French manufacturer launched the Type 135 which was a highly successful commercial vehicle. The purchase of the Delage led to the decision to enter the world of competitions, and the engine modifications on the Type 135 made it one of the fastest of that era by challenging the Alfa Romeo and the Bugatti.

The French Eugene Chaboud team with Eugene Chaboud and Jean Tremoulet at the wheel of the Delahaye 135 CS n.15 winner the 24 hours of Le Mans 1938, for the French manufacturer was the first and only success.
In the race the Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B Touring of Sommer and Biondetti took the lead and kept it throughout the race, but two hours from the end he retired for the engine breakage, the Delahaye chasing crossed the finish line winning a stunning shotgun. In second place came the Delahaye 135 CS n.14 driven by Gaston Serraud and Yves Giraud-Cabantous with a gap of two laps, while in third place the Talbot T150SS Coupe n.5 of Jean Prenant and Andre Morel with a gap of sixteen laps.
