The Belgian Ecurie Francorchamps team whit Hughes De Fierlandt and Alain De Cadenet at the wheel of the Ferrari 512 M n.9 did not finish at the 24 Hours of Le Mans 1971 due to the transmission breakdown after covering two hundred thirty-five laps.

The race was won by Porsche 917 K n.22 of Gijs Van Lennep and Helmut Marko, second Richard Attwood, Herbert Muller whit the Porsche 917 K n.19, while third Sam Posey, Tony Adamowicz whit the Ferrari 512 M n.12.
