HISTORY

The Jaguar XJR-8 is prototype that participated at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1987. The car was designed by Tony Southgate in collaboration between the British manufacturer and Tom Walkinshaw Racing, and complied with the regulations of the Sport Prototype Championship and of that IMSA GTP.

The British Jaguar Cars Silk Cut team with Martin Brundle and John Nielsen at the wheel of the Jaguar XJR-8 n.6 did not finish at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1987 due to broken engine after two hundred thirty-one laps. The race won by Porsche 962C n.17 of Derek Bell, Hans-Joachim Stuck, Al Holbert, in second place the Porsche 962C n.72 of Jurgen Lassig, Pierre Yver and Bernard De Dryver while in third position the Cougar C20 n.13 of Pierre-Henri Raphanel, Herve Regout, Yves Courage.
