HISTORY

The Porsche 936-78 is a car that participated at the 24 Hours of Le Mans of 1978. The German manufacturer lined up three 936 cars, two with the new configuration signed 78 and an old model signed 77.

The German Porsche System Martini team with Bob Wollek, Jurgen Barth, Jacky Ickx at the wheel of the Porsche 936-78 n.6 finished second at the 24 Hours of Le Mans 1978 with a gap of five laps to win. The race won by Renault Alpine A442B n.2 with Didier Pironi, Jean-Pierre Jaussaud. In third place the Porsche 936-77 n.7 with Hurley Haywood, Peter Gregg, Reinhold Joest.
