The Porsche 956 is a prototype that participated at the 24 Hours of Le Mans of 1984. The German Porsche Kremer Racing Team with Tiff Needell, David Sutherland and Rusty French at the wheel of the Porsche 956 n.17 finished ninth in the 24 Hours of Le Mans 1984 with a gap of thirty-nine laps from the winner the race was Porsche 956B n.7 with Klaus Ludwig and Henry Pescarolo, in second place the Porsche 956 n.26 with Jean Rondeau and John Paul jr, while in third position the Porsche 956B with David Hobbs, Philippe Streiff and Sarel Van Der Merwe.
