HISTORY
The Porsche 718 RSK is a car that participated at the 24 Hours of Le Mans of 1958. For the 1957 season the German manufacturer modified the 550A with a new body design, lower and more fluid than that of its predecessors. The much lower front chassis resembled the letter K when viewed from the front and the new version was commonly referred to as the “RSK”.
The German Porsche KG team with Edgar Barth and Paul Frere at the wheel of the Porsche 718 RSK n.31 finished fourth at the 24 Hours of Le Mans 1958 with a gap of fifteen laps from winners.
The Ferrari 250 TR/58 n.12 of Phill Hill and Olivier Gendebien won the race, in second place the Aston Martin DB3S n.5 with Peter Whitehead and Graham Whitehead with a gap of twelve laps, while in third position Jean Behra and Hans Hermann at the wheel of the Porsche 718 RSK n.29 with a gap of fourteen laps.
