HISTORY

The Chrysler Viper GTS-R is a car that took part in the 1998 Le Mans 24 Hours. The Oreca and Chrysler teams presented themselves in 1998 as the favorites to win. The car now at the peak of its success, showed up with eight cars lined up.

The English Chamberlain Engineering team with Ni Amorim, Goncalo Gomes and Manuel Mello-Breyner at the wheel of the Chrysler Viper GTS-R n.55 finished twenty-first at the 24 Hours of Le Mans 1998 with a gap of eighty-seven laps to winner, and seventh in the class LM-GT2.

The race won by Porsche 911 GT1-98 n.26 with Laurent Aiello, Allan McNish and Stephane Ortelli, second finished Kazuyoshi Hoshino, Aguri Suzuki and Masahiko Kageyama at the wheel of the Nissan R390 GT1 n.32, while in third position Jorg Muller, Uwe Alzen and Bob Wollek with the Porsche 911 GT1-98 n.25.
